White River Township Fire Department
Our Service Area
The White River Township Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to a 26-square-mile district serving approximately 52,000 residents.
The district includes a major commercial corridor along State Road 135, four elementary schools, two middle schools, large churches, assisted living facilities, apartment communities, and thousands of single-family homes.
Two major transportation corridors—Interstate 69 and State Road 135—serve as primary commuter routes for the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area.
Our Staffing
The department employs approximately 120 personnel across five operational and administrative divisions, including full-time firefighters and emergency medical professionals.
Daily staffing typically includes about 25 on-duty firefighters and seven EMS personnel.
During the workweek, an additional 12 to 15 administrative and support staff members provide essential operational support.

The White River Township Fire Department is comprised of dedicated and highly trained men and women who are united in their commitment to public safety and to supporting one another as a cohesive team. Department members serve the community in a wide range of capacities, including emergency response for fire and emergency medical services, public education initiatives, station tours, CPR training, child safety seat installations, and community outreach efforts such as the Christmas Angels program.
Community engagement is a core focus of the Department. Residents are encouraged to visit one of our fire stations or take the opportunity to meet and speak with a firefighter whenever possible.
