Corey McGaha
Training & Safety Chief Corey McGaha has more than two decades of fire service experience and joined the White River Township Fire Department in 2000. He brings extensive leadership and training experience, including more than six years as Training Officer with the Cordry Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department and service as Fire Chief from 2012 to 2014.
Chief McGaha’s leadership philosophy emphasizes community-focused service and professionalism. He believes in treating every member of the community as family and strives to make a positive impact during every interaction.
Health & Safety Officer
David SchollLieutenant David Scholl brings more than 30 years of fire and emergency services experience, beginning his career as a volunteer firefighter in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1994. He served with the Greenwood and Fishers Fire Departments before joining WRTFD in 2004.
At WRTFD, Lt. Scholl is a respected leader, mentor, and advocate for firefighter health and public safety, serving in emergency response, fire suppression, technical rescue, investigations, and public education.
He holds multiple NFPA certifications, including Fire Officer III, Safety Officer, and Fire Instructor III, and an Associate Degree in Fire Science. He leads initiatives focused on the physical and mental well-being of personnel.
Lt. Scholl and his wife, Misty, reside in Center Grove and remain committed to serving their community.
Training Division
All members of the White River Township Fire Department are required to meet established training standards to ensure the high level of service expected by the community. Training is delivered through daily, on-shift instruction and scheduled group sessions focused on advanced, high-risk, and low-frequency operations.
This approach ensures personnel are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and maintain professional excellence.

- Live Fire Training
- Structural Collapse
- Surface Water and Ice Rescue
In addition to instruction, the Training Division promotes scene safety and develops departmental policies, procedures, and best practices to protect personnel and ensure safe operations across all divisions.
