Johnson County turns pink
The pinking of Johnson County is well under way. I think we are going to look very pretty in pink. Folks are letting us know about their efforts to show support for families that have been touched by breast cancer. The Franklin Fire Department has designed a special logo to promote breast cancer awareness (see photo below). The image will be on the department's duty shirts. The Greenwood Fire Department plans to wear pink shirts. And the White River Fire Department has their own pink shirts too. The back of the shirt says: Brave enough to wear pink (see photo below).
The Center Grove football team will be
wearing pink wristbands, pink shoelaces and pink helmet decals when it
plays North Central on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. On Tuesday, Center
Grove representatives gathered to promote the event. Center Grove football coach
Eric Moore, breast cancer survivor and Center Grove employee Glennda Watson and
senior football players Nick Stoner and Joel Hale were on hand to display the
pink wristbands that will be worn for the game. Access Johnson County is
getting in the spirit. Betty Kinney sent a note that the public transportation
agency plans to do a lot of pink decorating. And Oren E. Snyder, who lives
near Franklin, has the perfect car for breast cancer awareness month. (See photo
below.) Nice wheels, Oren. Be sure to see the Daily Journal newspaper on
Oct. 15. Send an e-mail to
bepink@dailyjournal.net to send in
your pink photos. Story by Scarlett Syse, Editor of the Daily Journal.
