Attic fire causes minor damage
White River
Township firefighters responded to a reported attic fire on Tuesday morning
shortly before 10 a.m. They arrived to find a small fire in the attic
space above a bedroom in the Horizon Estates Subdivision in northwestern Johnson
County. The fire was quickly extinguished but not before some minor damage
had occurred. The homeowners were home at the time and suspected a
smoldering wire in the insulation of the attic. When they noticed smoke,
they called 911. The official cause is still under investigation.
Twenty-eight firefighters responded to the call, however several units were
cancelled after the fire was brought quickly under control.
