Department simulates building collapse

      White River Township firefighters conducted a full-scale training drill involving a building collapse scenario earlier today at the West Grove Elementary School on Smith Valley Road.  The unannounced training drill was designed to test the department's readiness and skill level for such an event.  The "incident" was dispatched as a vehicle into the building with unknown injuries.  Crews then responded non-emergent to the scene and began full-scale operations of victim removal and building shoring.  The drill involved the department's collapse team as well as assistance from the Bargersville Fire Department.  Firefighters have been conducting similar trainings on all three shifts over the past week as a refresher course and to identify any needed areas of further training.
