Fire safety program brought to preschool
Firefighters and
Public Education Officers from the White River Township Fire Department spent
the day visiting children at the Mount Pleasant Christian Church Preschool
earlier today. The annual event is intended to educate young children on
the importance of fire safety as well as give them an opportunity to interact
with firefighters and see some of the equipment up close. The customized
presentations are given to the children in small groups of ten to twenty based
on age. They start out with a twenty-minute fire safety demonstration
inside the department's mobile Safety House that is brought on site.
Following the demonstration, children are given a tour of a Fire Engine and
shown what firefighters wear into a fire. Questions from the students are
fielded and answered at the end. Some photos of today's event are shown
below. For more information on how these presentations can be done at your
school or event, please contact a member from the Public Education Division by
calling (317) 888-8337.
