Fire department responds to serious motor vehicle accident
White River Township Firefighters responded to Northbound State Road 37 south of Olive Branch Road for a serious motor vehicle accident. An extrication task force from station 51 on Olive Branch road responded along with firefighters from station 53 on Mullinix Road due to information received from individuals on the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found one vehicle inverted with one patient trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters immediately made contact with the patient who was conscious and complaining of back pain. The vehicle was quickly stabilized using special rescue struts that keep inverted vehicles from rolling back onto emergency responders. The roof of the vehicle was removed allowing firefighters to gain sufficient access to the patient. The patient was packaged and transported to Methodist Hospital.
