Department Brings Home Softball Title

    Firefighters from the White River Township Fire Department braved the heat and humidity to participate in a charity softball tournament in Franklin on Saturday.  The money raised from the tournament went to a trust fund for the children of former Franklin Fire Department Lieutenant Dale McKnight.  Lieutenant McKnight died in January, 2004 from complications of cancer.

         A total of Eight teams played in the all-day tournament.  White River Firefighters beat Bargersville and Columbus to face New Whiteland for the Championship Game. After a hard fought contest, the White River Firefighters prevailed. Other fire departments who participated were Greenwood, Bargersville, Nineveh, New Whiteland, Franklin, Columbus, Shelbyville.
