Crash at fast-food restaurant

A sport utility vehicle crashed into the side of a Wendy's restaurant during lunchtime Thursday, sending two employees to the hospital.  The driver of the vehicle inadvertently hit the gas instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to jump over a curb and through a wall into the kitchen area of the restaurant, White River Township Fire Chief Jeremy Pell said.  Two workers were in an employee break room on the other side of the wall when the vehicle hit about 11:30 a.m. No customers were injured.  Both employees received minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals as a precaution, Pell said. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.  The restaurant, 747 S. State Road 135, sustained damage to a section of its brick exterior and also to its roof trusses, Pell said.  The restaurant was shut down after the crash and was being inspected Thursday afternoon by health department officials and a Greenwood engineer, Pell said(Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
