Strawberry Festival this weekend
Enjoy freshly prepared food, antique cars, hot-air balloon rides, fireworks and more at the White River Township Fire Department’s 17th annual Strawberry Festival. The festival runs from noon to 10 p.m. June 12 and 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. June 13 at Center Grove Middle School North, 202 N. Morgantown Road, Greenwood.
Firefighters will grill hot dogs, hamburgers and rib-eye sandwiches in addition to the festival’s namesake strawberry shortcake. “Blaze the Trail,” a 5K fun run and walk benefiting Center Grove trails, will get under way at 9 a.m. June 13. Registration can be done at centergrovetrails.org or on-site beginning at 7:30 a.m. Cost to participate is $20. Fire department apparatus and the Johnson County Command Vehicle will be on display all weekend. Indiana Department of Natural Resources will be on hand to answer questions June 12. Festival-goers are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for donation for The Refuge in Greenwood.
