Residents awakened to fire

A small fire broke out at a home in the 200 block of North Windmill Trail just before 5 a.m. this morning.  The fire, which started in a mulch bed on the back side of the home, traveled up the wood-sided wall causing smoke to enter the home and alerting the occupants.  White River Township firefighters arrived on the scene to find the homeowner extinguishing the flames with a garden hose.  Firefighters finished the job and checked for further extension inside the home.  The fire was primarily contained to the outside of the structure with no significant damage to the interior.  Investigators are looking at a possible electrical cause of the fire.  No further information was available at press time.
