Firefighters Conduct Vehicle Extrication Training
Members of the White River Twp. Fire Department conducted
passenger vehicle extrication training over a two week period. Extrication
is the rescue discipline utilized to remove a trapped occupant from a
damaged vehicle. Firefighters utilize a wide range of tools to quickly and
methodically cut, spread and/or push the vehicle away from the patient
inside. This training served as a refresher to experienced members and an
introduction to new department firefighters. Hix Wrecker Service provided
the cars for training. Firefighters spent time using stabilization jacks,
box cribbing, high and low pressure air bags as well as a variety of
hydraulic and hand operated tools.
Special thanks to Hix Wrecker
Service for the vehicles and Josh McCarty for the use of the property for
training purposes.
