Fire Chief announces promotions and appointments

          White River Township Fire Chief announces promotions and appointments due to recent retirements and vacancies. Due to the recent retirement of Deputy Chief Scott Cassin, Fire Chief Jeremy Pell instituted his vision for the administration of the department. Chief Pell removed the layer of administration held by Chief Cassin and reduced the position to staff battalion chief of administration. Chief Pell wanted the staff battalion chiefs to have direct access to him according to the command structure chart.

    Joel Thacker leaves the training chief position to assume the duties of chief of administration. Chief Thacker had spent the last fourteen years responsible for department training. Carey Slauter will move from shift battalion chief to staff battalion chief of operations. Chief Slauter has filled the role of operations chief from the shift level for the last eight years. James Engmark has been promoted from shift battalion chief to chief of training and emergency medical services. Chief Engmark has been a shift battalion chief since 2004. These promotions create two openings at the shift battalion position. Chief Pell and Chief Slauter conducted interviews and appointed Captain Kevin Skipper and Lieutenant Scott Tichenor to the shift battalion positions. Chief Skipper has served the department full-time since 1992 and Chief Tichenor has served full-time since 2004. Congratulations to all individuals promoted and appointed.
