Members now safety seat technicians
During
the week of May 20th, eleven White River Township Fire Department
personnel were certified as Child Passengers Safety Technicians through Safe
Kids USA. This four day class included classroom lessons as well as
hands-on installation of child restraints. All eleven certified personnel
will now be able to inspect child safety restraints for proper use and
installation at all White River Township Fire Stations. Also, all White
River Township Fire Stations have been named Permanent Fitting Stations through
the Automotive Safety Program, which is part of Riley Hospital and the Indiana
University School of Medicine.
Permanent Fitting Stations
are places where parents/care-givers can make an appointment to have their child
safety seat inspected by a trained child passenger safety technician. The most
current information is given to the participant and instruction on how to
properly install the child safety seat for their child(ren). Permanent Fitting
Stations are located in approximately 101 locations across Indiana. For
more information on this program, or to set an appointment for an inspection,
please contact Fire Inspector
Craig
Zollars or Captain
Charlie
Fraker at (317) 888-8337 or by sending an e-mail by clicking either of their
names in the article.
