Child safety seat inspections
During
the week of May 20th through the 23rd, firefighters from
the White River Township Fire Department, in conjunction with Safe Kids USA,
will be certifying as
child passenger seat technicians. The certification
course will last four days and combines classroom instruction, hands-on work
with car seats, and vehicle practicals. On May 23, 2008, in conjunction with
the class, the White River Township Fire Department will host a community safety
seat checkup event between 12:00pm and 2:00pm at Station 53 located at 850 South
Mullinix Road in Greenwood (State Road 37 and Smith Valley Road). This safety
seat inspection is by appointment only and there will be 7 appointments every
half hour with the last appointments starting at 1:30. To make an
appointment you may call the White River Township Fire Department Headquarters
at 317-888-8337. During the Safety Seat inspection, firefighters will
demonstrate the proper use and installation of child restraints and safety belts
and then teach these skills to parents. Upon successful completion of this
course firefighters will be certified as a CPS Safety Seat Technician for two
years.
