Firefighters host lost dog
Firefighters from
White River Township Fire Department Station 53 are taking care of a lost dog
until his owner can be found. A nearby neighbor brought the dog to the
station yesterday in hopes that firefighters there could help find out where he
belongs. The neighbor found the puppy, which appears to be about three to
four months old, in the area of Mullinix and Olive Branch Roads. The
individual was concerned about the dog's welfare because of the extreme cold
temperatures that were forecast and the fact that he did not have a collar.
Firefighters later took the dog to the Sugar Grove Animal Hospital to see if it
had a chip implanted that could identify his owner. He did not have one.
The staff at the hospital did say though that the dog appeared to be in good
health. Firefighters then took the dog back to the station and provided
food and water for him as well as a place to rest. Later in the day, they
took fliers down to the area where the dog was found and posted them, including
at the nearby Saints Francis and Clare Church. An ad will also run in the
Daily Journal over the next four days advertising the lost pet.
Firefighters were making plans for someone to adopt the dog should his owner not
be found. If you have any information about the dog, which appears to be a
Labrador mix, please contact the Station 53 Crew Phone at (317) 859-4590.
