Car lands in retention pond

       The White River Township Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle in a pond this morning around 9:30 a.m. behind the Kroger Supermarket on State Road 135.  Upon their arrival, firefighters and rescue technicians found an empty vehicle sitting near the bottom of a dry retention pond.  Further investigation discovered the driver inside the nearby store.  The driver stated that the accelerator malfunctioned causing a loss of control of the vehicle.  Paramedics examined the driver at the scene for any injuries sustained in the incident.  The driver was subsequently transported to Community Hospital South as a precaution.
