Boy on bike hit by van
An 8-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Wednesday after he was struck by a van while he was riding his bike. The boy and a friend were riding bicycles about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound lane of County Line Road in the Center Grove area, according to a police report. A man was driving a van west on County Line Road and slowed to 5 mph when he pulled up the two, according to the report. He went into the eastbound lane to pass the bicycles, but the boy veered and was hit by the van.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy
Doug Cox said the boy, who had no apparent injuries and didn't complain of any
pain, was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis as a precaution because of
his age. He was released Wednesday, a hospital spokesman said. No
offense was committed during the accident, and the man wasn't driving
recklessly, Cox said. The boy's parents could not be reached for comment.
