Woman dies in S.R. 37 crash
A woman was killed and two people were seriously injured in a collision Monday afternoon on State Road 37 in Morgan County. The identities of the woman and others involved in the crash were not released. A family of six, including three children, was traveling west on Big Bend Road west of Banta and south of Waverly. Their car was T-boned on the passenger side by a Ford pickup pulling a trailer, which was southbound on State Road 37, Indiana State Police Sgt. Pat Warczynski said. A woman in the car died immediately or shortly after impact, Warczynski said. Police think the family was from Morgan County, she said.
The children, including an infant, were
securely buckled in car seats in the back seat and were not seriously injured,
Warczynski said. They and the two adults in the truck were taken by
ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The children and adults from
the truck were believed to be OK. Two other adults in the car were taken
to Methodist by helicopter. All three adults in the car were in the front seat.
White River Township Fire Department spokesman Jim Engmark said firefighters cut
off the roof and doors from the passenger's side of the car to get a woman out.
