Electrical fire causes outage

White River Township firefighters responded to the Hampton's Market strip mall in the 4800 block of West Smith Valley Road earlier today on a reported fire on the outside of the building.  Upon their arrival, firefighters found no active fire, however discovered that a substantial short-circuit had occurred on the power primary that feeds the about one-third of the structure.  Technicians from Duke Energy were summoned to the scene to secure and disconnect the transformer that fed the primary.  Once this was done, firefighters were able to inspect some of the electrical equipment involved in the 9 a.m. mishap to ensure no fire extension existed.  The cause of the circuit-failure was immediately unknown and power to Hampton's Market and the dry cleaners next door will remain off until repairs can be made.
