Members participate in tournament

       Firefighters from the White River Township Fire Department braved the heat and humidity to participate in a charity softball tournament in Franklin on Saturday.  The money raised from the tournament went to a trust fund for the children of former Franklin Fire Department Lieutenant Dale McKnight.  Lieutenant McKnight died in January, 2004 from complications of cancer.

         A total of twelve teams played in the all-day tournament.  Although the White River Township team did not bring home the championship, a great time was had by all.  Other fire departments who participated were Indianapolis, Greenwood, Bargersville, Nineveh, Trafalgar, Whiteland, New Whiteland, Franklin, Columbus, Shelbyville, and Florence, Kentucky.  A total of $1,059.00 was raised during the event.
