Department assists in Trafalgar fire
White
River Township firefighters responded to assist the Trafalgar Fire Department
yesterday on a building fire in downtown Trafalgar. The department sent
its Tactical Support Unit to the scene to assist with firefighter rehabilitation
and bottled air support. The crew of four was at
the scene for about six hours while other firefighters fought the fire.
The fire started in a metal pole barn containing as many as 400 bales of hay.
So much water was needed to fight the fire that the town's supply nearly ran
out. The fire, near the intersection of State Road 135 and State Road 252,
started just after 2:30 p.m. No one was in the building at the time the
fire started and no one was injured. The cause is still under
investigation and damage is estimated at around $100,000.
