Advanced shoring course conducted
The Special Operations Division of the White River Township Fire Department just completed a three-day Trench Rescue Operations course designed to advance the skills of the team. Lieutenant Tony Slusher and Firefighter Jory Cox were co-lead instructors and the course consisted of a half-day of classroom instruction followed by two-and-a-half days of hands-on training in the field. Seventeen firefighters participated in various advanced procedures involving difficult lumber and air shoring scenarios. Special thanks to Josh McCarty for donation of the land for the scenarios as well as Josh Abraham for providing the excavating work.
