Police use Taser on man with machete
A Johnson County sheriff's deputy used a Taser on a Center Grove man who struggled with another officer over a machete, according to a police report. Jose E. Valdizon, 32, 5139 Russell Lane, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of battery, two charges of domestic battery and a charge of resisting arrest.
Police went to the home at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday
and found a woman crying. There was a small amount of blood under her right ear,
according to police. She told police Valdizon had become upset when she
told him she was leaving. Police found Valdizon sitting in a chair on his
porch with an unsheathed machete leaning against the chair, and the deputy
leaned forward to remove it. Valdizon slapped the officer's arm and tried
to grab the machete, according to police. Police ordered him to stop and
to get on the ground, but Valdizon continued to try to gain control of the
machete, police said. The second officer used a Taser on Valdizon. Police
then handcuffed him and called the White River Township Fire Department to
remove the barbs and check him. He is being held at the Johnson County
jail on $4,000 bond. (Reprinted with permission from the
