Senate Resolution honors firefighters

       A Senate Resolution honoring two White River firefighters passed unanimously today during the state's Senate session in downtown Indianapolis.  Firefighters Michael Shoemaker and Jason Tibbetts were both recognized for their bravery and heroism for rescuing an elderly woman from a burning home last year.  The resolution was sponsored by State Senator Brent Waltz who took the floor during the opening minutes of the session.  Senator Waltz described the events of that day and then officially requested the vote on the matter.  The vote was unanimous and ultimately earned a standing ovation.  Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman was also on hand and expressed her appreciation for the unselfishness of the two firefighters.  See a related story HERE (03-11-06)  Photos below by Michelle Brown.
