Department records busiest year

       For the first time in three years, the department's call volume increased over the previous year.  The White River Township Fire Department responded to 1,651 calls for help in 2006, which is a two percent increase over 2005, and now ranks as the busiest year on record for the agency.  The year barely edged out 2003, which previously held the record of the busiest year at 1,649 calls.  2002 has been adjusted to reflect a single day outlier of sixty-three responses due to a tornado that struck the district in September of that year.  The number of call responses over the past ten years can be seen by clicking the thumbnail at the bottom of the page.

        The final call tally for 2006 was 1,651calls, of which 568 were fire-related responses and the rest, or 1,083 were medical-related.  This compares to a total of 1,614 calls for aid in 2005.  The following is a detailed breakdown of the various call types as reported to the National Fire Incident Reporting System:
