Santa visits fire station
About forty children and their families gathered at White River Township Fire Station 53 earlier this morning to witness the arrival of Santa Claus and some elves. He arrived at about 10:45 a.m. aboard a fire engine with its emergency lights on and sirens sounding. One-by-one each of the kids were able to spend some time with Santa making their requests for Christmas morning. Some of the children were completely overwhelmed with the experience while others had pre-arranged lists and seized the opportunity at hand. After about an hour at the fire station Santa said good-bye to all and traveled off to his next stop on his busy schedule.
The
department's Support Division organized the event which was hosted for fire
department employees and their families and friends. Each of the children
received a gift bag with crafts and other items inside to keep them busy while
they waited to see Santa. Plenty of snack food and drinks were also
available. Each child had his or her photo taken as well and will receive
a complimentary keepsake photograph after the event.
