Ex-ambulance worker arrested in drug theft
A former ambulance company employee faces a theft charge after White River Township firefighters told police that prescription Benadryl was missing from one of their stations. David A. Manlove, 33, Nineveh, was arrested Friday by Johnson County sheriff's deputy Andrew Fisher. Manlove was taken to the Johnson County Jail and released after posting bail.
White River Township fire Capt. Casey J. Arkins reported the theft from a medical box at Fire Station 53, 850 Mullinix Road, after firefighters told him they suspected Manlove had taken drugs from a fire truck. Arkins told police that Manlove knows a lot of firefighters on the Southside. He has worked for several private emergency service providers in the area. According to Fisher's report, Manlove brought his daughter to the station about 3 p.m. Friday. Firefighters said they saw Manlove and the girl walking around the fire trucks. At one point, Manlove stopped by an engine and firefighters saw a medical box on the floor. Once Manlove left, firefighters noticed that drugs were missing, the report said.
Fisher contacted
Manlove by telephone, and he admitted taking the prescription drug, according to
the report. The two met a few minutes later, and Manlove gave Fisher a
small vial containing 50 milligrams of the drug, the report said.
