Fire prevention funded by benefit
Proceeds from a fund-raiser conducted this month will help firefighters in the county with fire education and prevention efforts. About $6,000 was raised at a car show and sock hop event at the Greenwood Moose Lodge on Aug. 12. The money goes to the county's volunteer firefighters association to help with countywide programs, which are usually related to fire education and prevention, Bargersville Fire Chief Jim White said.
Though this
year's proceeds have not been designated for a specific project, in the past
money has helped purchase a smoke trailer to show children fire dangers and
helped firefighters distribute devices such as smoke detectors, he said.
