Storm leads to busy night

The White River Township Fire Department responded to ten calls for help within a two-and-a-half hour period following a severe thunderstorm that swept the through the district on Tuesday night.  The storm moved in from the northeast around 7:30 p.m. bringing heavy rains, dangerous lightning, and winds with gusts to sixty miles-per-hour.  All of the calls were directly related to the weather and included three lightning strikes to homes, two falsely activated fire alarms, two sets of power lines down, a fallen tree, a motor vehicle accident, and an injured person resulting from a fall.  No damage estimates were available at press time, however according to a fire department spokesman most of the damage was minor and injuries were not life-threatening.
