Storm leads to busy night
The White River
Township Fire Department responded to ten calls for help within a two-and-a-half
hour period following a severe thunderstorm that swept the through the district
on Tuesday night. The storm moved in from the northeast around 7:30 p.m.
bringing heavy rains, dangerous lightning, and winds with gusts to sixty
miles-per-hour. All of the calls were directly related to the weather and
included three lightning strikes to homes, two falsely activated fire alarms,
two sets of power lines down, a fallen tree, a motor vehicle accident, and an
injured person resulting from a fall. No damage estimates were available
at press time, however according to a fire department spokesman most of the
damage was minor and injuries were not life-threatening.
