Department provides assistance at fire
Ten firefighters and
four pieces of apparatus from White River Township were sent to Bargersville on
Monday evening to assist Bargersville Fire Department with a house fire on
Utterback Court. No one was home when lightning apparently struck the home
and started the fire around 7:45 p.m. The fire destroyed the attic and
heavily damaged much of the upper floor of the structure causing approximately
$200,000 in damage. A total of twenty-five firefighters from both agencies
spent about an hour to put out the blaze. A dog that was inside the home
at the time of the fire was rescued and appeared unharmed. No one was
injured. The homeowner was out of town and unavailable for further
comment.
