Boy on bike collides with vehicle

12-year-old
Greenwood boy is in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.
The boy was riding his bicycle on State Road 135 near Stella Drive and was
struck by a van at 6:37 p.m., according to the police report. Witnesses
told police the boy was looking behind him at another bicyclist when he crossed
into the road. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with
what the report described as a leg injury. He was listed in fair condition
Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle’s driver, Salim Ilmudeen, 45, Greenwood,
told police he was traveling about 30 mph. He said he was the boy cross
into the road but was unable to avoid hitting him, according to the report. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily
