Truck collides with train
A
full-size pick-up truck collided with a southbound freight train earlier today
on State Road 44 south of Bargersville. The accident occurred just west of
State Road 135 at the railroad crossing in Union Township. Bargersville
and White River Township firefighters responded to the scene to find a single
occupant in the truck who was entrapped in the vehicle. After a short
extrication procedure using hydraulic power equipment, the man was freed from
the wreckage and transported to the hospital. The man's injuries were
unknown at press time but did not appear life-threatening according to officials
at the scene. Although signaling equipment installed at the track crossing
appearing to be functioning, the cause of the accident is unknown and still
under investigation.
