30 firefighters battle blaze
Flames
destroyed a Greenwood apartment Wednesday night. City fire officials are
investigating what started the blaze at 571 Paradise Way Apt. B, which was
reported at about 9:10 a.m. No one was injured in the fire, and the
residents were at a neighboring apartment when the fire began, said Lt. Tom
Kite, a spokesman for the fire department. The fire appears to have
started in the bedroom of the two-room apartment, Kite said. Firefighters
spent about 30 minutes putting out flames, which did not spread to the three
other apartments in the building, Kite said. The Greenwood Fire Department
sent four trucks and about 30 firefighters to the scene, and White River
Township firefighters arrived in case they were needed, he said.
