Fire department receives "Heart"
The following "Heart" was printed in Tuesday's Daily Journal as part of the weekly Hearts and Darts section:
"First and foremost, I would like to thank God for watching over us on that tragic day, with special thanks to White River Fire Department, Rural Metro and all the staff at Wishard Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. I would also like to give a special thanks to all the men and women from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Greenwood Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and any other police department that was involved. All of you are very much appreciated. It's people like you that make a difference in this world.
I would like to personally thank Deputy Damian Katt who was with me during the incident. Also, a special thanks to Col. Dave Cox and Maj. Randy Werden. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
I would
like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards and the phone calls I received.
They were all much appreciated. Special thanks to all my family and friends for
being with me throughout this. Also thank you to my parents, Libby and Tom
Henninger and Lorena and Melvin Edwards, and most of all to my wife, Lisa, and
our children, Stephanie and Jessica Edwards and Blake Ulrey, for your continued
love and support.
- Deputy Steve Edwards, Johnson County Sheriff's Office
Editor's note: Edwards was shot in the shoulder by a suspect in
Greenwood on Dec. 7. The suspect later killed himself.
