Fire causes smoke damage
White River Township Fire Department responded to Lot 424 Shady Brook Heights in the Friendly Village Mobile Home Park on a report of a bedroom fire. Firefighters arrived to find the fire already extinguished by family members, but not before it had caused extensive smoke damage to the room. The fire appeared to have started on a dresser in the bedroom and was later determined to have been caused by candles left burning on the dresser by the homeowner. The homeowner had left the residence and her brother came by later in the evening and found the bedroom ablaze. The homeowner’s brother and cousin were able to get buckets of water and put the fire out before the fire department's arrival. The homeowner was able to stay in the home that evening.
