Firefighters test smoke detectors

White River Township firefighters installed more than 80 smoke detectors and replaced batteries in more than 60 others during a smoke detector drive Saturday, November 19th.  The department sent firefighters door-to-door to make sure detectors were working correctly because accidental fires typically increase significantly during the winter heating season.  Fire marshal Eric Brown encouraged all homeowners to check their smoke detectors.  White River Township residents who need assistance with smoke detectors can call the fire department’s office at 888-8337(Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
