Fire station plans finalized
Floor plans for a
new fire station in White River Township have been recently finalized, according
to officials with the White River Township Fire Department.
The station, to be built near the intersection of Olive Branch Road and State
Road 135, will consist of three apparatus bays, three levels (including a
basement), and will be capable of housing up to twelve firefighters at any given
time. Although the department plans to staff the station with only five or
six personnel when it opens next year, the building is being built with the
future needs of the township in mind. The township fire department
recently conducted several years of research in determining the future run load
for the area and its subsequent staffing requirements. The building is
being built as a seventy-five year structure and therefore will need to
accommodate the anticipated increase in run load and services provided by the
fire department, according to officials. Construction is anticipated to
begin sometime in March with a completion date around the end of the year.
