Local fire protection is appreciated

       The following thank-you letter was reprinted with permission from Bill Miller as printed in the Indianapolis Star, Metro section.

           "Have you ever thought of what I am going to describe to you?  Just for instance, our fire defense program. If you were unfortunate enough to have an uncontrolled fire on your premises -- whether in your home, garage or yard -- you have an adequate amount of manpower with equipment to bring it under control.  They will also assist you in any manner that they deem necessary to keep you out of danger and make your property safe.  Not only are they experts in fire, they are just as obliging in case of medical emergencies.  I do realize they are paid a salary from our taxes; considering the percentage of your tax dollar that goes to fire protection, I feel this is the most you could get for your money.  Just to realize you have trained personnel to assist you in an emergency for no added cost to you is one of the greatest comforts this country provides.  May I say thank you to White River Fire Department."
