Golf cart destroyed by fire

       A golf cart used for recreational purposes was destroyed yesterday in a mid-afternoon fire.   The individuals riding on the golf cart said they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment while they were riding down the driveway of their home.  They pulled over into the grass and noticed the engine was on fire.  The incident was initially called in by the Fire Chief who was departing the fire station on Mullinix Road that was less than a block away.  He said he noticed a column of smoke that was quickly growing larger and began to investigate.  No further information was available at press time other than the actual cause of the fire is still under investigation and that the golf cart was a total loss.
