Man found dead in home pool
A 41-year-old Greenwood man was
found dead in his pool Thursday, police said. Investigators suspect
Kenneth Keller may have drowned. Keller’s roommate, Robert Wehrman, said
he got up for work at 4:15 a.m. Thursday. When Wehrman left that morning, Keller
was asleep, Johnson County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike McElwain said. Wehrman
returned home from work about 4 p.m. and found Keller at the bottom of the
in-ground pool, Chief Deputy Doug Cox said. Wehrman said he jumped into
the pool to get Keller out. He used a spray wand connected to a hose to help
pull himself and Keller out of the water, McElwain said. McElwain
estimated the pool was 6 to 8 feet deep. Wehrman started CPR on Keller and
continued until emergency workers from the White River Fire Department arrived,
the report said. Attempts to revive Keller were not successful, McElwain
said.
An autopsy
was to be conducted Friday, and toxicology reports will come in the next few
weeks, Cox said. Police are not sure of how Keller drowned in the pool.
His clothes were on the patio near a table, and the concrete around the pool was
dry, McElwain said. McElwain and Cox said they do not believe anyone
pushed Keller into the pool or that foul play was involved. (Reprinted
