Career Day at North Grove
The White River Township Fire Department assisted North Grove Elementary School today with Career Day. Fifth and Sixth graders from the school went to several different career stations offering different types of career paths. At the fire department's booth, students got to try on fire gear, try out a thermal imaging camera, and even put on an SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). The students also were hooked up to the heart monitor that is used for certain medical emergencies such as heart attacks and strokes and could see their heart beat on the display. All of the students really enjoyed themselves and learned a great deal about a career path in firefighting or emergency medical services. Other Center Grove Elementary schools will be participating in career day activities as well in the next couple of weeks and firefighters will be there to help out.
