FD replaces three staff vehicles

       All three Battalion Chiefs for the White River Township Fire Department received new vehicles last week as part of the department's vehicle recycle program.  The department cycles smaller vehicles based on a pre-determined rotation in order to maximize salvage value and minimize annual costs.  Of the nine total staff vehicles owned by the department, three of them are used by the three Battalion Chiefs for incident response and other job duties. 

         The department currently utilizes the Ford Explorer as its preferred staff vehicle.  Earlier this year, the department looked at several different makes and models of vehicles in order to establish a new specification.  After reviewing each and evaluating them against the intended use, the Explorer was chosen as the front-runner.  All nine current vehicles are equipped with basic response equipment as well as automatic defibrillators in order to provide first-response services when needed.
