Fire damages WRT home; no one injured

A White River Township home was damaged in a fire Friday afternoon, but no one was in the residence and the owner hadn’t yet moved his belongings in, firefighters say.  The cause of the fire at 3816 Chancellor Drive was electrical, firefighters say. They were called to the home at 12:12 p.m. Friday.   When crews arrived three minutes later, the home was filled with smoke, White River Township Fire Department Lt. Jim Engmark said.  The Greenwood Fire Department was called to assist.  The fire started near a microwave in the kitchen on the first floor.  The fire spread to the second floor and attic of the home. There was extensive interior damage, but no exterior damage was reported.  Firefighters had the fire under control 30 minutes after their arrival.  The owner of the home, Myron Coy, told firefighters that he was in the process of moving into the home, Engmark said.  (Reproduced with permission from the Daily Journal)
