Department graduates two new paramedics
Two new paramedics will now join the ranks of other paramedics at the White River Township Fire Department. Two long-standing employees graduated from the Community Hospital Paramedic Program today after a year of intense training, clinicals, and classroom time. The Class of 2004 consisted of thirteen graduates, of which two were from White River Township Fire Department. Lieutenant Jeff Wilson and Firefighter Tony Slusher are the first two paramedics to graduate from the program established through a joint partnership between the fire department and Community Hospitals of Indianapolis. Through the agreement, the fire department is entitled to send two paramedic students through the program each year at no cost to the department. The Class of 2005 students, Lieutenant Jim Engmark and Lieutenant Casey Arkins began class back in February and are slated to graduate next year. The Class of 2006 students will be named closer to the end of this year after a short internal selection process.
