Gas leak found at school
Center Grove Middle School North students and staff were evacuated for about 30 minutes Thursday after a natural gas odor was reported in the building. A gas leak was discovered about 1 p.m. and traced to the boiler room area of the new building at 202 N. Morgantown Road, Center Grove Superintendent Candace Milhon-Baer said. Emergency crews came to the scene, and utility workers shut off the gas service so students could return to finish the school day. "Everything went very well," Milhon-Baer said. Workers were expected to return Thursday evening to pinpoint the source of the leak and make any necessary repairs, she said. The new middle school opened in August, joining the first middle school on Stones Crossing Road, which was renamed Center Grove Middle School Central.
