Fire department teaches bus safety class

       Firefighters from the White River Township Fire Department performed an educational class for Center Grove school bus drivers and staff today.  The annual one-day class teaches transportation employees how to handle small emergencies while in the performance of their duties.  Drivers were taught how to effectively use a fire extinguisher, evacuate a bus safely, and some basic first-aid principles.  The fire department has been doing these classes for several years now and a great relationship has been forged between the two agencies.  In fact, several of the firefighters for the township are also part-time bus drivers themselves.  The class lasted about four hours and included both classroom and practical instruction.
