Infant, sitters hurt in accident
Three
people were injured, at least one very seriously, in a two-car crash in a
construction zone on State Road 37 Thursday afternoon.
Names of those involved and specific details of the crash were not
available Thursday evening. But firefighters said a baby and two adults were taken to
Methodist Hospital following the accident.
The wreck occurred at the intersection of State Road 37 and Stones
Crossing Road at 12:30 p.m. When
emergency crews arrived, they found an injured 6-month-old baby in proper
restraints in the back seat of a car. In
the front seat, a man and woman baby-sitting the infant were trapped, said Mike
Pruitt, battalion chief for the Bargersville Fire Department.
The vehicle was damaged beyond recognition by the accident.
It landed in a nearby ditch, Pruitt said.
The adults were trapped in the vehicle for 20 to 25 minutes, Pruitt said.
The woman was driving the vehicle. She
was taken to the hospital in good condition.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle pulled out in front
of a truck and was hit on the side. The
man driving the truck was not injured, Pruitt said.
Indiana State Police are handling the investigation of the accident.
Names of those involved were withheld Thursday evening pending
notification of family. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
