New uniform patch arrives

       In conjunction with the fire department's fiftieth anniversary, a new uniform patch was designed and adopted.  The new patch reflects a symbolic change in the department as it progresses toward a fully-career provider.  The patch additionally displays a somewhat patriotic theme and clearly defines the location and year of inception.  The patch was designed in sections and took nearly a year to complete with the help of many individuals.  The finished design was officially unveiled at last year's awards banquet back in February and was an instant hit with the firefighters and their families.  Currently, patches are being distributed to all employees and due to the limited supply, no extras are being handed out, therefore the department's patch-trading program is presently suspended.  The suspension may be lifted later in the year as more patches are ordered.
