Greenwood FD honor guard tops in nation
Members of the Greenwood Fire Department Honor
Guard recently took top prize in a national competition. The four-man team
competed in a three-part competition at the Fire Department Instructors
Conference at the Indianapolis Convention Center and RCA Dome from April 1 to
6. Teams were tested on close inspection, presenting the colors, and a
mock funeral detail. Greenwood's team scored 99.1 percent out of 100,
beating eight other teams from around the country. Team members include
Commander Nat Ridge and firefighters Randy Travis, Adam Arkins, and Josh
Meadows. The team competed for the first time in 2002 and finished
third. (reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
